How to Build a Weekly Numbers Brief From Three CSV Files

This is the exact sequence from the October 14 roundtable. You end up with a working margin calculator you can open on your phone. The finished version is embedded below so you can try it right here.
1. Create a folder on your computer
On your desktop or in Documents, make a new empty folder. Name it something clear like margin-calculator. This is just a place for the AI to put the file. Nothing special about the name.

2. In Claude Code, choose that folder and paste the prompt
Open the Claude desktop app. Switch to the Code tab. Click the folder picker and select the folder you just made. Then paste this prompt and send it.

In Grok, use Build mode and paste the same prompt. Either tool works. Claude Code is better if you want the file saved on your computer automatically.
3. The file appears in the folder you chose
Claude Code writes index.html inside the folder you selected. You will see it in the file list on the right or in Finder/Explorer. Open that file in any browser.

4. Test it, then iterate if needed
Enter a cost and a selling price. The margin updates immediately. Drop the margin under 20% and the red warning appears. If something is missing, paste a short note back into Claude: “Add a labor hours field and an hourly rate. Show the price I need to charge to hit a target margin.” The AI updates the same file.

Try the finished calculator
This is the version from the roundtable. Materials, labor hours, hourly rate, selling price, and target margin. Nothing is uploaded. Use it right here, or download the file.
The same idea works for any tool you can describe
A calculator is one example. The pattern is the same for anything that starts as a form, a comparison, or a one-page report. Describe who uses it and what done looks like. Ask for the file. Open it. Paste notes back if it needs a change.
| Who | Tool | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Trades / HVAC / service | Job quote calculator | Hours + materials + target margin → price + short email note |
| Realtor | Listing comparison sheet | Address, price, sqft, days on market → side-by-side |
| Consultant / professional services | Time & expense logger | Project, hours, rate, expenses → invoice total |
| Any owner | Weekly numbers brief | Drop CSV exports in a folder → one-page highlights |
| Parts or product business | Reorder alert | Stock levels, flag low items |
| Any | Invoice generator or expense tracker | Simple form that totals and formats what you need |
Pick one of those, or write your own in two sentences. The steps are the same.
