Google A.I. Is the Search Result. Is Your Website In It?

A.I. Assistants Can Now Book Appointments and Show Your Inventory. Is Your Company Showing Up?

Your A.I. Can Now Click Through Websites For You.
Chat used to talk about a page. That was the limit. Fetch the text, guess from what is on the landing page, tell you it could not see the ads.
That limit changed. Claude Cowork now has its own browser. Claude in Chrome can use your browser. Grok Bot can click through websites, click Export, and send you the file. ChatGPT Agent can fill a form and pause at pay.
The new thing is not a summary of a site. It is using the site. On command, or on a repeating schedule.
Two layers, again
Open Claude Chat and you can use the official connector. Your requests give you the information and a link to book on Expedia. That layer is helpful but incomplete.
Open Claude Cowork, Claude Code, ChatGPT Agent, or Grok Bot and you get a signed-in browser. Boris Cherny, who runs Claude Code, said Cowork ticketed eight flights and five hotels while he kept coding. It read mail and calendar first. One hotel landed in the wrong neighborhood. One message, rebooked.
That second layer can click Submit for you. This is powerful upgrade, but be sure to test it a few times while watching it to ensure you like the results. It can eat a CAPTCHA, trip a profile ban, or change a live listing if you leave it signed into your admin. Watch the screen. Do not let it click Save on your own account.
What each tool can actually finish
| Job | What you get | Where it runs | You still do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Find flights | Prices, details, links. Cowork has ticketed real flights in a browser. | Cowork or Grok Bot. Chat only searches. | Pay. Confirm the airport. |
| Reserve a table | Times and a link, or an in-chat book on ChatGPT and Gemini. | Chat for OpenTable / Yelp / Resy. Cowork can click Reserve if the site allows it. | Do not fire-and-forget. Resy has frozen unsanctioned bots. |
| Daily export | Today’s report in Drive, plus an email with the row count. | Grok Bot on a saved login. Cowork if the desktop app stays open. | Sign in once. Take over on a new CAPTCHA. |
| Monday wrap | Headlines and links, no articles. | Claude scheduled task. Laptop can be closed. | Name the competitors. Cap the list at eight. |
| Competitor ads | What is running now in Ads Transparency. | Cowork or Grok with the page open. Chat often returns the furniture of the page, not the ads. | Reload first. Search a name you know is there. |
| Town or state lookup | This month’s permits, a license status, an auction calendar. | The browser tools. Many of those pages refuse a plain fetch. | Ask about terms of use before you put it on a clock. |
On Demand, or On A Schedule
On demand: you stay on your job. AI goes and gets the page. Flights that match your rules. A competitor’s current Google ads. Restaurants locally for Friday at 7. You still click pay or reserve.
On a schedule: you asked once. It runs every weekday. Log into the weekly site. Click the fields. Export today’s report. Send it to you.
The catch on Claude: a cloud summary can run with the laptop closed. The new browser, your local desktop files, and anything that has to click a real page still need the desktop app open and connected. Schedule a Monday wrap. Do not schedule an unattended browser job unless your desktop stays opened and logged in.
Grok Bot can keep the laptop closed for a portal job you already signed it into. If a CAPTCHA or 2FA stops it, you take over at that step.
Start a new chat
Old chats do not always know the new features. I said that on the call and I will keep saying it. Either tell your old chats to use the new capabilities, or start a new chat.
Before you trust what you just saw
The AI may say “no results”. Before you trust it, check, and push back if needed. AI does not say error. It gives you an answer. That is the trap.
AI’s memory can break new search results. The field that did not empty from the last search still sitting there. The picture from the last page. A screenshot of the previous company, labeled as this one.
The rule: before you believe an empty answer, search for something you know is there. If that is empty too, the tool is broken and every nothing-found you just collected is wrong. Tell the AI to clear its memory and try again.
Site rules still apply
Opening a page in a browser does not make automated access allowed. Some record sites refuse a browser the same way they refuse a script. The traffic comes from your machine and your address. A ban lands on you.
A roundtable member asked about creating a bot that would sit in an upgrade queue 48 hours before a flight, clicking repeatedly. I said imagine you are doing this to a person. That is how companies feel when a script keeps poking their computers. Ask the AI to read the terms and conditions first. If it says no AI, listen.
- Open a new chat in Cowork or Grok Bot, not an old thread.
- Pick one page you already click yourself: ads, a permit search, a supplier portal, your own analytics.
- Say what to bring back. Prices and links. Headlines and URLs. A file and a row count.
- Stop before pay, reserve, or Save.
- Run the control search. If a name you know comes back empty, throw the rest out.
If the job is “show up when they ask,” that is the listing post. If the job is “am I even in Google’s answer,” that is the Search Console post.
